Beaches in Sri Lanka

Arugam Bay
Arugam Bay Beach is famous for its excellent surf spots, it draws surfers from around the world, while its serene atmosphere, vibrant local culture, and picturesque sunsets make it a perfect destination for both adventure seekers and relaxation lovers.

- Surfing: Arugam Bay is one of the most famous surf spots in Sri Lanka and globally. Surf breaks include: Main Point: Ideal for experienced surfers, known for its long right-hand reef break. Curry Point: A point break best suited for intermediate to advanced surfers. Baby Point: A perfect spot for beginners due to its gentle, consistent waves.

Pasikudah
Pasikuda Beach is a stunning stretch of golden sand along Sri Lanka’s east coast, known for its calm, shallow waters and serene atmosphere, making it a perfect destination for swimming and relaxation. Nilaveli Beach
Nilaveli’s 4km stretch of sand is considered one of Sri Lanka’s best beaches and with its paradise-island remoteness, swaying palms and golden tinge to the shore. This offers great snorkelling opportunities, is a short boat ride away.

Mirissa Beach
At the heart of Sri Lanka’s south coast, Mirissa is an incredible beach destination that shouldn’t be missed. Beautiful beaches, awesome sunset spots, and endless great places to eat made it our favourite place in southern Sri Lanka. There are so many amazing things to do in Mirissa.

- Beach Type: Mirissa Beach is a beautiful crescent of soft golden sand framed by turquoise waters and lush green hills. The beach has a relaxed and inviting vibe, with palm trees lining the shore.

- Best Time to Visit: Between November to April






Hikkaduwa Beach
Hikkaduwa is one of the best surfing spots in Sri Lanka, offering a clear hot water base. Scuba diving and diving in clear waters are major past time along this stretch. The coral sanctuary along the coast of Hikkaduwa is a large shallow body of water surrounded by a reef, decorated with layers of multicolored corals, and is home to countless colorful fish. Off the beach is a collection of small islets surrounded by beautiful coral formations. Many species of fish and large turtles are found here. There are more than four different shipwrecks for diving enthusiasts to explore.
